Martinova Chandler

Founder of EMDR Therapy Kent

My approach delves into exploring the intricate dynamics of childhood family environments and the formative experiences that have shaped clients' thoughts, perceptions, and behaviours, extending their impact into the present.

My primary objective is to empower clients to develop new coping mechanisms, facilitating the regulation of their nervous systems for enhanced day-to-day functioning and a sense of control. Through fostering regulatory skills, individuals can engage in the process of safely navigating and processing their traumatic experiences. This approach prioritises client autonomy and choice within therapeutic sessions, fostering a foundation of trust in their own capacities.

Moreover, my extensive background encompasses specialised work with survivors of sexual abuse, spanning childhood through to adulthood. I've also supported individuals grappling with a spectrum of mental health conditions, providing a nurturing space to unravel how past traumas reverberate into their present realities. Integrating a person-centered approach with EMDR techniques, I tailor therapeutic interventions to address trauma's impacts on clients' current functioning and overall well-being.

Having served as a clinical lead in a generic counselling setting for many years, I've honed my expertise across diverse domains including mental health concerns, childhood trauma, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, self-harm, eating disorders, stress and anxiety, domestic violence, anger management, and addiction, among others. My client base includes young people aged 16 and above, as well as adults, offering both short-term and long-term counselling options to cater to individual needs.

Central to my practice is the provision of a safe and confidential environment wherein clients can freely explore their challenges and disentangle complex emotions and thoughts. By fostering an atmosphere devoid of judgment, I aim to facilitate clients' progress in navigating difficulties and charting a path toward personal growth and resolution. Whether seeking brief interventions or embarking on a more extended therapeutic journey, I am committed to supporting individuals in their pursuit of healing and positive change.

Janey Sutton.jpeg

Janey Sutton

My name is Janey Sutton I am a registered and accredited counsellor with The British Association of counsellors and psychotherapists. I am also a qualified EMDR therapist. (EMDR Europe)

I am trained integratively,  which means I can draw from several therapeutic approaches, including CBT, EMDR therapy and trauma focussed CBT.  This means that I can tailor the therapy to be very personal to you. I have 25 years of experience of working in the NHS with individuals and families struggling with their emotional health.

If you are struggling to cope, with your mood, thoughts, relationships, anxiety, depression, life's stresses or have experienced abuse/ trauma recently or in the past and would like to work through these issues, I would be happy to help.

I currently work as a counsellor, EMDR therapist and wellbeing advisor for a UK emergency service. Alongside my private practice I have experienced working for a community-based counselling charity and domestic abuse charity.

I have specialist training and experience in working with antenatal and post -natal parents. I offer specialist counselling and EMDR therapy for antenatal and post-natal depression and anxiety, tokophobia (fear of childbirth), birth trauma, bonding/attachment issues. infertility issues pregnancy and infant loss. I also have a special interest in hyperemesis gravidarum (sickness in pregnancy).

I worked in the NHS for 25years, qualifying as a registered nurse working in children’s nursing and as a nurse on a neonatal intensive care unit before registering as a health visitor. I initially worked with young parents, before further developing my expertise and passion as a specialist health visitor for perinatal mental health which included supporting families on a one to one basis, designing services for them and campaigning for more. I also have a  qualification in infant mental health and parent /infant interaction.

I have run support groups for parents struggling with post-natal depression.  It was the lack of quality specialist counselling available for families that inspired me to become a counsellor. I have worked with organisations such as 'fathers reaching out', campaigning for more recognition and access to counselling for dads struggling with their mental health.

I provide ‘in-person’ counselling at my private practice in Canterbury and virtual counselling sessions via Zoom .

Jon Sutton

EMDR therapist. (EMDR Europe)

With over 35 years experience working within and supporting emergency services, I have first-response exposure and experience to traumatic and distressing incidents which I feel enables a unique empathy and understanding for those with similar experiences, both as an adult and those carried forwards from childhood.

EMDR has allowed so many clients to process these events and experiences, make sense of them, reducing the rawness and energy of the distress or trauma and leaving them visibly lighter and free to move on.

I'm trained integratively which means I can draw from all therapeutic modalities to find the one that works for you best. As a registered and accredited counsellor with the British Association of Counsellors and Pyschotherapists,  EMDR therapist (EMDR Europe) and qualified Imagery Rescripting therapist, (a technique focussing specifically on childhood  PTSD), I'm able to provide a safe space for you to work through your experiences at your pace but equally happy, with your consent, to be challenging to help you get to the right place.

I was diagnosed with dyslexia late in life and through this have built a strong understanding of how challenging and isolating being neurodiverse can be. This experience  enables me to support many clients with a range of neurodiverse challenges to feel understood and listened to.
